L3UM4S, Samuel Umberto Romano (Turin, 1972), is one of the key figures of the Italian electronic scene, known for his hybrid approach that blends techno pulses, analog sensibilities, and club culture. Although widely recognized as the voice of Subsonica, his artistic journey goes far beyond the role of frontman, establishing himself over the years as a producer and DJ with a distinct and coherent vision. Rooted in post-industrial Turin, Samuel was among the protagonists of the Italian electronic renaissance of the ’90s, bringing to the surface an urban, nocturnal, and eclectic sound. With Subsonica, he contributed to seminal albums such as Microchip Emozionale, but it is in more lateral projects like MotelConnection that his electronic soul emerges most purely—a project embodying his fascination with techno and sonic experimentation.

In parallel, Samuel has cultivated an intense career as a DJ and producer, earning a reputation in clubs and festivals for hypnotic, elegant, and powerful sets that seamlessly merge techno, electro, and house with a deeply personal melodic sensibility. He has often favored the hybrid live format, combining analog and digital machines while exploring territories at the boundary between the dancefloor and sound design.
